CARTIER

A reference in France since 1847, Cartier is today one of the leading jewellers in the world.
Once a jeweller to kings, also called the ‘king of jewellers’, Cartier has always attracted and still attracts royal families and the social elite of each epoch. The colour of passion, each red box hides a promise of eternal love, the most beautiful diamonds formulate exceptional engagement rings.

Cartier has always been the accomplice of the greatest love affairs. As an ardent diamond expert, Cartier knows how to reveal their beauty better than any other craftsman. Through its technical prowess, it has always attracted the most famous people of all eras. In 1969, to prove to his wife Elizabeth Taylor the depth of his love, Richard Burton gave her an extraordinary 69.42 carat diamond, called the ‘Cartier Burton-Taylor’. From this moment on, Cartier has been synonymous with the greatest tokens of love.

Each Cartier ring begins its life in the firm’s Parisian workshops. Cartier’s renowned models, the Solitaire 1895, Ballerine, Solitaire C de Cartier, Déclaration and Louis Cartier, demanded of their designers a profusion of ideas and workshop sketches. The simpler a model appears to be, the more creativity and expertise has been involved in its production. The Solitaire 1895, the engagement ring par excellence today, is the best illustration of this. Cartier created this model in 1895 with the desire to make the setting as discreet as possible in order to free every ray of light from the diamond. In the same way, every Cartier engagement ring is designed to set off its crowning diamond to best effect

In the greatest jewellery tradition, Cartier continues to apply its knowledge and expertise in the production of engagement rings that are among the most beautiful in the world. The beauty of a setting is identifiable from the elegance of its lines, the fineness of its prongs and beads, and the perfection of its polish and other finishes. It is said that a ‘Cartier ring is just as beautiful to look at from beneath as from above’.
